The weekend was a busy one for the RIBA with the announcement of the winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize and the opening of major new exhibitions on Art Deco architecture, Puttin’ on the Glitz and Art Deco Triumphant. The exhibitions look at the origin of the style in Paris and the Art Deco architecture of Britain, covering buildings as diverse as cinemas, London Underground stations, factories, shops, and offices. On display are nearly a hundred vintage photographs supplemented by books, journals and drawings, all from the RIBA British Architectural Library collections. The exhibitions are open until 26 November 2011 and admission is free.
